Silent Night is a song we all sing
but it doesn’t seem likely that that’s how it went
So forgive us a time or two
as we give this night a different view
Cuz the inn it coulda been rowdy
and it coulda been a little bit cloudy
the star woulda still poked through
The cattle they were lowing
but what does that mean?
Furthermore it wasn’t too clean
Baby Jesus was in that manger
And who’s to say there wasn’t some danger
involved in that whole birth process?
Then there’s those old shepherds
those stinky stinky shepherds
who knows what they brought with
but if i may and if i might
venture to say that this sounds right
cuz our Saviour came for all
not just for those who have figured it out
but also for those lost in the crowd
He chose to live in our midst
not as spirit but at full gliss
living the divine mystery.
God in flesh!
So you see a loud night
could have still been a holy night.
